New characters that have been introduced are increasingly and clearly heads and shoulders above any pre-existing characters with their skill sets and group synergies.It just keeps getting more and more ridiculous with the tenacity buffs and buff dispels and auto taunts and synergies with other characters that boost their skills even further to the point of absurdity... They are clearly so much better and stronger that it makes them crucial to being able to compete with other people using them.It just keeps getting more and more over the top,.. look back through the "new" characters... Rex, Wiggs, B2, Sun Fac, Shoretrooper, Bistan and so on... and now a new rebel symbiotic duo that again is super strongWhen you compare the skill sets of any of the "old school" characters to these new characters it's like night and day... such a dramatic difference in how much they can do and how strong they are that it just makes more and more characters obsolete.So what's the answer?Should old characters be rebalanced to fit into this new super strong meta that is upcoming... or should things be reeled back a bit and new characters that are introduced fall in line more so with the pre-existing ones?What's your thoughts?

Balance isn't right. Always one team that's unbeatable. Game should be Rock Paper Scissors. The overpowered rebels beat the overpowered empire who beat the overpowered Jedi who beat he overpowered rebels. No win team is unbeatable and a tactic can be made to beat any team without having to be swamped with ridiculous speed only. That way old toons stay viable as well in the right team.

Don't get me wrong... I understand the lust for money as well as the next guy. I completely understand why this "power creep"' happens and how it benefits the creator...New characters that are introduced are simply an answer to the already created problem of characters that are too strong for unforeseen reasons... lando is too strong... So put in a character like shoretrooper to nullify himOther characters could be brought in line and made useful but instead they keep making every new character have some ridiculous skill set that answers whatever perceived issues due to existing imbalances It's a parabolic curve of adjustments that make 95% of the the existing characters serve no purpose... And that sucks...

Pretty much on the mark....

Nerfs the new OP toons back in line with the rest after a few months. Everybody had their fun, back in line. Otherwise we will reach a point where one aoe will kill all enemy toons and the fastest to drop it will win.
Arena matches we used to have to finish on auto to win within 5 minutes are now won in under 1min 30s or less. Effectively nullifying the introduction of protection.
In short, agree with OP, this escalation is just going into the wall.

Every new toon is more OP than the last, just to inspire more panic buying. I honestly find it hard to believe that anyone at EA/CG really cares about how good the game is, or how balanced it is.

Every new toon is based around:

How can we make this toon more desirable than all the others?
How can we monetise the toon for the best return?

The game industry used to be about making quality games, game designers used to take pride in their work. Decisions used to be based around the player experience, or pushing new boundaries, now it's about studying player activity, adjusting drop rates and A/B testing buy button colours.

I do believe, however, that the freemium bubble will burst. At some point gamers will demand quality again, put away their credit cards, and the game industry will have to take notice.

i don't mind the power creep tbh. It might be going a little too fast at the moment though.
Let's forget about the money making aspect of it for a minute. It's still nice if a new release is something to get excited about. They could release a hundred magma trooper equivalent characters, but i wouldn't want to farm any of them. The evolving meta, partly made possible by the power creep, is keeping the game interresting.
