Well, from the dev's perspective the game mode isn't broken, neither is the team. GW has been a hot topic ever since i started playing. The devs have reworked GW in the past, but it never seemed to go over well with a portion of the playerbase. Their last statement in regards to GW is that it isn't broken and it just isn't meant to be cleared every day by every player. At this point in time, well at any point in time actually, i would advice everyone to addapt or temper their expectations. Even if the devs chose to "fix" GW, chances are pretty high it's still unbeatable for a fair share of players.
As for resistance being a broken team, you're probably right. Resistance is rediculously good in pretty much all PvE content. If resistance was anywhere near as good in arena as they are in the other game modes you'd see complaints piling up like there was no tommorow. But hey, everyone seems to like an "easy button" when it comes to PvE.
That being said, resistance isn't mandatory to clear GW, so the awnser to a "broken game mode" ins't necessarily a "broken team". I personally only use resistance in node 1 as a safety precaution, but i like using other teams to clear the other 11 nodes.
If not being able to clear GW becomes so frustrating that the game becomes less enjoyable, i would certainly farm resistance though. Not sure how that constitutes as "not thinking the issue through clearly".
