A thermal detonator could do damage to the target, and then additional damage to others depending on how much damage that character took.
Two options to solve the debuff problem:
a) The detonators go off when you cleanse them, for additional (very high) damage. This would create a solution to triple cleanse, as now detonators are actually a form of protecting your other debuffs.
b) Detonators do not follow the normal cleanse rules.
I prefer solution A as it would help create a more rock/paper/scissors meta and might even solve a number of problems.
