My suggestion is this, when any type of interuption occurs (call, drop signal, etc) it should just boot you from the match and NOT use your battle.
If I lose connection during a battle, I simply get a message at the end telling me there was a problem with the connection, along with a "retry" button. Eventually it goes through and I get my rewards, and typically the issue is switching from WiFi to Cellular, or vice versa.
