Grand Arena matching

I'm in Bronzium 3. I have 3 GL's. Why are there people with 6/7/8 galactic legends in such low leagues? Surely they should be matched higher up?

  • Get 10 points. Either they don't show up and you win, or they stomp you and you lose. You only need to spend 30 seconds on the match.

We need a way to filter out these threads.

  • We need the 'Hi, I'm in Bronzium 3 with no GLs and I'm facing somebody with 3 GLs.  Surely they should be matched much higher?' thread yet.

That all said, more and more I believe an 'activity score' would improve the quality of life in GAC for everybody.

I started a new alt, largely because I'm curious about these carbonite matchups. I'll be interested to see how many I manage to "win" by scoring 10 and chilling.

I have found, so far in my limited tracking since May 4th, if the inflated GP does nothing on round 1 and you score 10 points and win, they will become active in round 2 and 3 and stomp the other opponent.  If they are active on round 1 and win, they will then loose round 2 and 3 with inactivity or fight one or two nodes.  Occasionally, you'll get a matchup within 2 million of your GP and the player will just grind the whole match winning every match and move up.  I plug these as returning accounts who were dormant.  But, the following month you'll see that guy in your rotation 5v5 or 3v3 again for whatever reason, downranking, no time to play, actually had to show skill and lacked it, etc.

ALL levels of Carbonite it littered with 10-11 million GP players, some are active, some are not.  You have to click to join GAC, so it is a choice they are making to be there which is intimidating for new players.  The current Carbonite 1 I am in on the new alt account, I am matched with three 11 mil players with over 93 zetas and 5 GLs each, two 9 mil players, one 5mil player me at 4.5mil and a guy at 3.5 mil.  This seems to be the comp every match where you are moving up and down between Carb 5-1 every GAC.  GL's are being set on defense, but a lot of them are stripped of their mods.

I utilize Wampa a lot to break a few so I put on more than 10 points.  But it has been the slowest crawl up the ladder again with these crazy inflated matches with the down rankers.  I can actually see how this is discouraging for brand new players and creates a barrier for their growth ranking 7 or 8 every single week.  It's so hard to explain, because my one account is not empirical data, it's just my experience in a very small sample.  And I am no statistician, so I don't keep very good data, like what is everyone ranks, how long have they played the game, what is their ship comp, how many end game capital ships do they have, how many teams are relic'd, how many zeta and omicrons do they own, what was their highest rank prior to this match?  Etc.  My data is just basic win / loss, zeta count, GL count, GP count.

I look forward to what you see on your new account.

  • The number of GL's or GP size is not really a good metric, I only have 6 GL's in K2 and I only had 2/3 when I entered kyber 3 for the first time and was battling accounts with all GL's. To progress you need to build your roster to compete with these larger rosters over time as every win will move you up to compete with this size of roster permanently. It is easier in Bronzium as you field and require fewer squads. So, these battles are perfect to practice off meta counters and optimise your squads and strategy to outperform larger rosters than your own. After every loss I reflect on what could be better in my roster, if its my opponent is extremely out of my league and I stood no chance, I still try to focus on what worked and did not. They may have better modding which can indicate where you will need to improve yours before Aurodium.

These players have every right to play as much or as little as they like, this is their current performance level, if you want to progress through them into Aurodium which is full of even more of these type of rosters, you need to learn to out maneuver them and grow your roster with what is missing (it will not just be GL's).

If you can not deal with this type of roster in Bronzium then be grateful they prevent you from winning more often and entering Aurodium by giving you a quick loss every now and then. Otherwise you would be thrashed every round before being returned to Bronzium. I have been there when first progressing from Aurodium into Kyber and it was frustrating for a long time and the slight daily increase in crystals did not cover the long losing streaks denting my crystal income.
