Funny. My 3* Tie Fighter hits like a truck and evades often. It's a great addition to my lineup. Perhaps try gearing and levelling your TFP? Mine is 5*, G9 Level 82 (I want to try and factor him into a raid squad). I started gearing and levelling him before ships.
