Indeed. Profundity is one of those indefensibly awful events that you just have to rely on rng to get through. Unfortunately, there is no other solution beyond bumping up relic levels on your pilots and putting 6dot mods on them to give yourself better odds in the fight. 

They know the Grand Inquisitor was reworked which went into the event so now it’s just all RNG like everything else, looking at Hondo fight 1 for Dr aphra.  Good luck. 

work on your mods and make sure your pilots are all modded. they're all doable

I'd like to add the Profundity Bonus Tier to this list of absolute f nightmares. 
Already an hour in and been spending resources like there's no tomorrow enhancing pilots mods.
Just turn down the defence / protection on Hounds Tooth a little that's all, it doesn't have to be like this.
