Top 5 as a f2p player in a shard that's been around since 2015

I run Boba (g11) or Rex (g11) lead, depending on the team, with Anakin (g11) and wiggs (both g11). Haven't spent a cent on them. Just cantina, guild/fleet shop and hard modes. I spent plenty of time in the mid 50s when chaze came out, same with when gk started making his presence known and now through the zaders and zauls. I regularly place 4-1 though sometimes I don't get the right rng to win! Just wanted to let the f2p guys know it's possible even in a server full of chaze and zauls with 240+ speed and every secondary having +14 speed. It's doable guys, just need patience :)

    I guess your shard isn't as full of active whales as mine. You would struggle to place in the top 50 in my shard. There are absolutely no Wiggs teams in top 20... Those are a thing of the past in my shard. But cheers to you! And may your good luck continue... :)

    That's awesome. I've spent some good money on this game and respect people that figure out how to do it for free!

    Strategy is definitely important, but what shard you're on makes a huge difference. I have guildmates whose shards I could easily crush #1 every day, and others where I'd be lucky to stay in the top 50.

    I would agree that not all shards are made equal.

    However, as another f2p player that sits in the top 3 every day, I use Zader, EP, Boba, TFP, Shore. All G11. Late April 2016 shard.

    One thing that is key is communication with your shard mates. Search for them and start a Discord channel (or other chat app) and coordinate payout times so that when somebody's payout is coming up, people don't snipe them (or more importantly you).

    Wiggs is on 34% of #1 ranked squads worldwide. Hardly the past.

    3 of the top 4 teams used by #1 squads have Wiggs.

    Yeah, I was talking about my shard... But I'd venture to say that most of that 34% you talk about is from younger shards, which was also what I was referring to...
