The most important capital (meta) ships are actually only achievable by GET2, and those can't be bought (unfortunately :D). So if you're in a guild that can't make the Geo-TBs, or just collect a few stars, you will not have an easy life in fleet arena these days B)
I run malevolence and often hit top ten. My guild isn't smashing through either geo TB. I made a smart decision to horde currency instead of buying gear. You win or lose based on your ability to predict how CG will next throttle gear progression. In this case they dumped the best capital ships into a primary store used for high priority gear. Just like they did with malak and GAS. This should be a lesson. Start hoarding your GA currency because they will definitely put needed characters in there.
