What I decided to do with all the extra currency is to spend it on character shards, despite it being a poor value. At least that way we still get some SSC.
I'm trying not to do that until towards the end of the episode so that way I save currency for when the shop refreshes
However, next episode there is a lot more quality of life changes and it is all positive. As scoundrel pointed out in the comments here
