We've reached the end of the official cadence and this is still not farmable. What gives?

Are you suggesting that everyone who read that post had a 5* or 6* Malak and got extra shards, and that no one else looked at it? The data from SWGoH.gg indicates that about 15% of the user base (at most) has Malak, and obviously some of those are 7*, newly unlocked, or didn't play the event the second time.
It's obviously a problem that needed to be corrected, but there are a zillion other things that need to be fixed too, and many of those impact the user base as a whole.
15% of 600k are still 90k. Even if they double or tripple checked the thread that's still 24000 players being affected not counting those who don't read forums at all. That's way above "a few thousands". I don't argue that there are other things to be dealt with, it's just your wording that bugs me.
