I play medium...and i didnt check any math...but i got trough the fisrt 4 sectors with the impression some teams were stronger and gave a lot more fight. They felt faster in the sense the attacked MORE times than before OR did more damage. The overall result was that their initial barrage (that always existed) did more damage (either lasted longer or had more damage) and sometimes killed a key toon of mine...also, sometimes they got a second barrage that i dont remember happening...
IT MAY be perspective...i didnt take any notes...and am still going in sector 4. I completed both the previous ones, so i will have more certainity if i finish sector 5 (or not).
The teams where i felt this more were Imperial Troopers and Rey Resistence teams.
