Welcome to Jin's Droid Factory! Today: IG100 Magnaguard and why you need him
What if there was a tank that did 10k damage on a crit, had a destructive AOE, gave himself speed up/offense up, reduced turn meter, and took THREE turns in a row? You'd say EA waa bonkers for making that character and put him as your #1 farming priority right? Then why aren't you farming IG100 Magnaguard?
A full loadout of his character can be found here on swgoh.gg but I'm going to tell you how and why to use him. To perform properly ig100 needs to be under HK's omegead lead and have his speed modded along with a potency mod. This enables you to do some very, very nasty things with him on a droid team. Your most powerful droid team setup is: HK lead, Jawa Engineer, Ig88, ig100, ig86.
Ig100's aoe will do two things, mop up a character with yellow or red life that's hiding behind a taunt and reduce turn meter. You need to omega it because once you do its a 3 turn cool down and Ig100 will be taking two free turns in a row. If he's attacked and counters, especially on a multi-attack like Dooku, Rey, or Fives hit, he'll almost always crit and take that third turn. Every time he Aoe's he takes a free turn and with speed up bonus and modded for speed it's constantly.
Oh, and he also gives targets offense down for two turns which fuels ig88's damage! I forgot to mention that. Rey suddenly hits like a stale Twinkie and Fives barely nicks his protection. Yes, ig:100 can solo fives and solo Rey if his offense down lands properly.
The catch? To get ig100 to death mode requires three sets of stun cuffs and three sets of stun guns, also two scanners in a row. But believe me when I tell you...if you play droids he is extremely worth it. Against the Rancor in raids as well and against those pigs, offense down and TM reduction is amazing. He has high potency too so you won't be lacking there.
Experimenting I've found his best mod setup to be a speed arrow, critical damage mod set of 4, a critical damage triangle, and potency up plus. You can boost his potency or crits chance with the two other mods or go with health.
Arena time! A JE recalibrate leads to all the other droids going first if you speed modded them right. If he's called for ig86's assist all the better. Is his AoE immediately! Chances are you'll drop 2-3 character turn meters. If you smacked Rey with 86's special this will usually kill her off. You'll get a free turn from his Aoe so smack whoever needs an offense down. That's two turns to go before another Aoe. Ig100 now has speed up and offense up! An enemy Aoe can set him off for a free turn, especially when it's multiple hits because he counters each one if it triggers. He's also the magnet for an AI's QuiGon dispelled which can also trigger his counter.
His Aoe TM reduction pairs with HK and 88's ability block so well it'll become clutch. An ability blocked ST han can't do much of anything with 60% of his turn meter missing from a super-speed ig100 taking three turns in a row. Game over.
So that's pretty much how awesome IG100 Magnaguard is. If you play droids. And have a lot of stun cuffs/guns laying around.
