What even is the point of Lord Vader

Defense capability was very important in an arena centric meta. Considering that meta is now composed of 22 teams, half of meta is used on offense only. I don’t own LV (yet), but it seems he can beat any team in the game and solo quite a few teams as well.
However, he shouldn’t be among the first GLs you get, as his cost/efficiency ratio is debatable at best, no argument there. But once you have a strong roster, LV (and his prerequisites) takes it to the next level.
