I've never used a refresh to get more DC mats. I'll use natural energy if I remember to and feel like it, but once I get red box, I'm generally done. While grinding feats, sure I'll hit a DC node if it makes sense but it's 50/50 as to whether or not I'll actually use the mats. Maybe if I'm bored I'll do some DC development - or maybe the mats will sit in my inventory until the maturation of their planned obsolescence. It's just not something that I can get excited about. If they were a forever upgrade, I'd be all over it. Since they disappear, I can't bring myself to care enough to drop a single crystal in the pursuit of them. Everything else that I use crystals on gives me a permanent benefit and I kind of like that. There may come a day when I feel differently - but today is not that day.
Back to disk RNG - developing a strategy on the fly is not something I enjoy, nor is it one of my strengths. The first conquest of a new set is always the least fun for me because I've got to figure out what I'm doing all over again. This is a necessary evil and I get that - the fact that conquest changes keeps it from getting more stale than the repetitive battles already tend to make it. The second and third ones are usually more fun IF disk RNG cooperates because I have a strategy developed and it's a matter of sticking to the plan to see the event through to victory (red box). If disk RNG doesn't cooperate - well that's less fun for me. I get that other people feel differently and that's perfectly fine. I don't think disk RNG is going away if they haven't done away with it already.
