State of Fleet Crystals

Removing crystals from squad arena was a phenomenal QOL change and moving crystals out of fleet arena would be as well--at least for me, because I won't speak for anyone else. 

We should still have a way to gain the equivalent crystals, but being locked into playing fleet arena at a specific time of day is incredibly inconvenient. Numerous times on these forums there have been threads proposing thoughtful changes that would remove the inconvenience and alleviate the tedium (such as awarding the crystals based on the highest achieved rank within a 24h period, as opposed to the rank in the exact moment, like it is now). 

I refuse to believe CG are unaware of this issue--that it is, in fact, an issue for some players--so it simply comes down to their overall plan for how they want players to engage with the game. Clearly, CG are fine with the fleet arena model. We are at their mercy. Nothing here will change until they want it to change.

Dedicate 4 years to farming fleets, time, effort, alarms for payout hours. And then you come up with this… If you don’t like others earning crystals with fleets, it’s simple: farm your fleet and take the first place from the others.

This has absolutely nothing to do with anything I said. I'm not unhappy I can't get crystals. I'm unhappy I have to do this stupid boring BS every single day in order to get them. Read. 

I would love to have the meta shaken up more -- especially with ships that can create counters to Levi (it's been out long enough) and the other high end ships, but ones that don't hold on defense. 

It's also long past time we got an additional ship or 7 that can reliably beat the DS RotE P2 fleet mission. Why should that be so difficult? 

Having multiple, targeted ships that directly counter a specific faction, but only on offence, and lose to pretty much everything on defense isn't particularly easy to craft, but we need some of these things. It would be much more fun to play Fleet Arena if we had multiple reliable options to attack. 

Of course if you didn't want to just get crushed overnight, you'd still want the meta capital ship. I don't want to destroy that incentive. But we could have have more fun with more variety. It's long past time for that. 

Personally, I prefer a boring but 100% reliable fleet climb over a stressful, time/crystal consuming and RNG infested one.

With my idea you could still choose that by going with the Meta fleet. 

And we literally have a nearly completely unused rebel capital ship in the game, and after 10 years of existing, there's still no red 5 or A wing. Get a pen CG. We're doing your jobs for you. 

I recently climbed to number 1 in fleet arena and have consistently been knocked back to 10 or so and have to climb back a few battles each day. But my main gripe about fleets is the disparity in crystals from rank 1 to 50. 400 crystals seems pretty good for number 1 but as soon as you drop to 11, you get far less.  Even though your fleet is basically as good as any other in that range it just depends on when you climb and if you get sniped. I'd like to see more crystals for ranks 11-50 like maybe 300 crystals or so. Then like 200 for 50-100. This would remove some of the disparity. 400 crystals is good for actually getting gear and relics packs and character packs whereas only 200 or less per day really restricts that progress. 

Lock crystals behind a paywall like an Episode Pass? Hard pass. Personally I would much rather have this guaranteed form of crystal that is f2p accessible than something as volatile as the episode pass and whatever CG chooses to lock behind it. The crystals are the only motivation I have to do fleet arena and they further motivate and reward players to build up their fleets. 

While I agree the mode could be more interesting, I don’t think removing the prime incentive from it is a good way to do that. CG needs to release new ships to shake things up in the meta so it doesn’t feel so stale anymore. Taking away crystals is not the way to go and would not make the game mode more interesting.
