What Happens to Inactive Players in PVP Arena

Hello. I was just thinking about squad arena shards and how the older shards probably have a ton of players that do not play anymore. Is there an algorithm in the game code that pushes the inactive players to the back of the shard after they have not played for so long (say 30 days or something)? And obviously last place in the shard would contain the weakest player that has not played the game in 30 days, and the strongest player that has not played in 30 days would be the highest ranked inactive player.

And before people start commenting about how players naturally get pushed back over time I will say that I know this...

However, for players that played the game say a year to six months ago, coming back and climbing their arena shard quickly due to inactive members getting pushed out of their way would be extremely beneficial and likely lead to them sticking with the game longer than they would if they were stuck behind 1,000+ inactive players in the arena. Instead of being stuck in the 2,500+ rank range behind potentially 2,000 inactive players (exaggerated estimate) these active players would be rewarded with better rewards for actively playing the game.

I do not think this would be too taxing of an update for the developers to write some script that says that if a player does not collect their daily login reward for 30 days then they get pushed back behind the weakest player that collected a daily login that day. And when the player that got pushed back for being inactive comes back, they should easily be able to join the ranks of active players again.

I think the idea of rewarding active players should always be the priority, and I would think that implementation of this idea would stop so many players from re-rolling their accounts and filling shards with even more inactive accounts.

Just a thought. Would love to hear what the moderators and developers think of this idea.
  • Actually I was thinking recently that it would be nice to be able to leave your shard for a new one. It would have to have a cooldown timer, but like if u come back after being inactive for a year the chances of climbing to 1st are very slim. So u would be placed in a new shard with players based on your lvl, and your top 5 toons total power.
  • They just fall back in rank whenever someone beats them and I they aren't playing they fall back until no one attacks them anymore.
  • Just change your arena 'team' to your lowest level, lowest geared, unmodded character before you leave the game...

This is what I am trying to get some ideas to fix... there are these level 85 players that may have played for 6 months or so then quit and are still clogging up space in the top 2,500 of their arena. Meanwhile, someone in their shard that only played for a month or two and decided to come back to the game and play again is stuck in the bottom of their arena shard getting bad rewards and there are a bunch of players not even collecting their rewards that are preventing them from getting better rewards.
I know everyone says that the low level guy that quit should either start a new account or just suck it up and grind past the inactive players, but I believe this is terrible advice for multiple reasons:

    1. Active players should always get better rewards than inactive players. It will keep them happier with the game and encourage them to keep playing.

    2. Letting the active players bypass all of the inactive players will give them a sense that they are competing well in their shard and motivate them to play more and probably spend more to stay competitive. I guarantee players in the top 1,000 spend 10x more than those in the bottom 19,000.

    3. People re-roll accounts so much these days there are probably 50,000 accounts that were made just to check what rank they're starting at in a new shard. It's unnecessary.
