What legendary characters should I avoid?

Thrawn, CLS, Chewbacca, and C3PO are great starting recommendations.

Unless your first big goal is JML or Rey, I think JTR is the easiest journey to delay until later.

Which GL and how you are looking to spend your GET1 determines a lot of which journey characters to focus on and which can be delayed. GET1 is needed to finish GAS and Malak as well as getting JKL’s requirements of HYoda/Wampa. The other temptation for GET1 is gear for a SLKR, SEE or Executor rush.

I would strongly disagree with you assessment of Beskar Mando for a new player. He's an easy journey with just 7 star g9 needed, all accelerated characters. His kit in an early roster would be very powerful. Plus you are gearing 2 of the best bounty hunters in the game to get him, and every toon has a place in the end game meta.

You shouldn't avoid any of them as they are all needed at some point.

This. Its not about avoiding any of them, they're all necessary for one reason or another. Its just about priority. As someone else posted, good starting ones are Thrawn, CLS, Chewie & 3p0. All amazing characters. But ultimately get them all

I think avoid was a bad choice of word. I mean more which are the best early on and are key to unlocking really good characters. I’m level 84 right now and want to manage my resources in the best possible way.

"Who should I prioritise" might be a better way to phrase it.

Not sure where you are roster wise but i went EP>Thrawn>R2>CLS>Chimera>Mil Falcon>Padme>Chewie>3PO early on.

Edit: Would also suggest going after DR/Malak/BSF as early as you can. This is probably the strongest longest lasting team in the game.
