When special event toons don't feel special anymore

I'm pretty sure that I'm not the only player who has felt this way in regards to how the game has been handling special event toons which include gls, conquest and of course the event unlocks like the new mace windu. Back when I first started playing special event toons were actually special since they could do things no other characters could. Abilities that were game breaking and sometimes had to be nerfed for how good they were; something that by today's standards is almost too common on any toon released. Galactic legends that were once meta defining are now outclassed by normal marquee level toons with omicrons and need special lifter toons to be modestly relevant. Special event toons are basically slightly better marquee toons but with 3 omicrons and harder unlock requirements putting them on a similar level as gls. Sure the simple answer to this whole ordeal is meta shifts and of course the long running "get gud" joke but when special is defined only by the number of omicrons a toon has (which by the way can only be used in like one area of the game) then special just doesnt feel special anymore. Like Syndrome said in The Incredibles "when everyone is super no one will be" the over saturation of special toons will eventually make the process of farming for the next big thing feel somewhat pointless. Yes it's the nature of the game but when all the work put into something so grand results in something that will eventually need a lifter to be useful again it kind of kills the momentum of the game.
