Yeah that is my guess also. K2SO counter chance seems to have been taken from a scene from previews that didn't make it into the movie.
He's the little guy in the U-wing that mans a machine gun and shoots an AT-AT's leg off as it flies over it, he shows up in one other scene too but I forgot which one
Listing that as a spoiler? If someone hasn't watched the movie by now then why bother even coming on this forum?

When does the spoiler period even end?
Depends on the material. With Star Wars anything, I would say a week, because if you call yourself a fan and it takes yourself more than a week to see a new SW movie, then you're most likely not a real fan anyway.
p.s. Someone will reply with, "but what if you're busy and don't have time?!" and my response is, everyone's busy, get over it.

I don't know, I was still writing my comment before I saw any other comments and didn't know the spoiler tags were unnecessary

The character Bistan was released at star wars celebrations Europe last summer and was the a big reveal in the aliens and creatures of star wars panel where a fully animatronic 'space monkey ' was on the stage and wandering around (it was pretty amazing!) and it was one of the creatures they created and spent alot of resources on. He must have been cut after the new director came in for reshoots and change the second half of the movie.
Due to the final cut, it seems like had a nothing part in the movie in the end but clips of the early cut show him doing a bit more :)
I dont think anything was really cut. He's the equivalent of Constable Zuvio from TFA, an intriguing background design they can show off without giving anything away. There was all these fan theories he was in cut material, and it turns out he was always a non-entity.
Also there was a dude in the suit at Celebrations (though I guess the head was animatronic)
