Gotta disagree with "god awful version". He's one of my favourite units. I happen to think the kit shows his conflicted nature from the first game quite well.
The unlock characters are decent in their own rights too, and Mara goes on most/all of of the ideal Starkiller team set-ups. I'd struggle to find a use for Palatine without Starkiller. Instead, as one of the earliest Journey Guide unlocks, EP takes out Galactic Legends.
By all means, request characters you like. There's no need to under rate very good characters in the process.
