I believe the devs said that there is scoundrel event comming like 2 months ago. I managed to gather 330 shards of both Cad and Greedo since then without sacrificing anything. They just sat locked waiting for the event. I also had time to gather enough shards of Lando and Boba.
I agree that for some players building scoundrels right now, just for the event would mean too big sacrifice, but in general its one of the most benefitial events in terms of ROI. As soon as one's arena and GW team are set, one should focus on scoundrels. The sooner the better. Extra 1M weakly will help a lot with building other heroes. And 5-6M investment is nothing compared to investments needed for some previous events.
