Is it a 6 month farm for everyone? Absolutely not. For some it was a 1 day farm. For others its going to be a 1 month farm, a 6 month farm, a year farm, or longer. Its really no different than previous legendary releases...this one just depends more on how you want to prioritize resources going forward rather than your total accumulation of past resources.
The bolded is simply flat out wrong. It is very different from previous legendary releases.
First off, you keep asserting that the toons required for other releases were "useless apart from the event" - that's simply incorrect.
- You needed Rebels to get Palpatine - Rebels are and have been meta. They are also very useful in p4 of HAAT
- You needed Empire to get R2. Palpatine was a huge part of the meta upon his release (ironically, often running with Rebel teams) and Chirpatine was a p3 HAAT raid part. zVader was the arena meta lead after he was first zeta'd - he was also a huge contributor to raids. Royal Guard was a mainstay as an auto-tuant in arena before there were "pretaunts" - which Shoretrooper is one of the best pre-taunters (save for Baze)
- You needed Phoenix for Thrawn. While at first blush, this seemed a waste. However, a combination of factors has made Phoenix useful. Part of it is "forced" usefullness in the TB missions. Another aspect though, is that Phoenix are oddly adept at staying alive for multiple phases of GW with their unique-sharing and constant buffs.
- Arguably, the weakest was Jedi for Yoda. Bot for many long-time players (and newer players) Jedi are useful for their healing abilities, making them sustainable in GW. Many people run a LS/Jedi team in TB (zQGJ + Ezra and others can pack quite a punch).
In all of the above cases, many people (f2p or p2p) either had or could easily farm the required characters, meaning that in every case the "legendary" character in question was often obtained immediately or in the next go around - which was often in less than 6 months. That was true whether you were f2p, a whale or even didn't spend crystals for packs, refreshes, etc. That is not nearly the case for Mother T. It will not take 6 months for f2p players to unlock her. Even spenders will have to pony up significant money/crystals to shorten that two years to 1 year - which is still over twice as long as any other previous "legendary" characters took.
Suggesting that this is "really no different" is either completely misguided and misinformed or intentionally false. It is nowhere near similar - which is a large part of the reason why there is so much discussion about the situation to begin with.
