Advice/Tips on guild organization for Heroics

Hello! So my guild is fairly new to heroics (mostly because we previously didn’t think we had the strength to finish any heroic raid) but now we know we can, I think we are struggling with finding a method to make the Heriocs fair for everyone. We have a couple people who can basically solo the pit raid and our second attempt at the heroic, only 11 people got to participate because they blew it away in about 1hr and 20minutes. I’m just seeking advice as a proactive officer who wants to find a solution that makes it so stuff like that doesn’t happen.
I just recently in the last couple months made a discord for the guild because when I joined the guild wasn’t as organized as it is today, and a few of us actively try and get people to join the discord, but I think because discord is still fairly new to them they aren’t really wanting to join.
We also have quite a few older players who don’t really want to deal with a separate app for communication which I guess I understand.

Also, we have two members who hit very very hard in all raids and are in 1st and 2nd place 100% of the time over 8-10 million above everyone else. Do other guilds let members like that take 1st/2nd every single raid or do you make them limit their damage every other raid to allow other members to get higher rewards? I’m not against letting them shine because they worked for their teams, I just worry that other guild members might get upset over time because they are so much further ahead?

Any other advice would be much appreciated.
  • The most important thing is that everyone gets to participate.

24/0 dmg is a common rule

Basically no one hits for the first 24 hours then it's open season.

It was similar for us. We had a 12 hour 0 damage period every raid. Usually 3 raids/week: Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. And when we got enough tokens, a bonus raid on Saturday/Sunday. Friday raids and bonus raids were always free for all. On Monday and Wednesday, all those members who already had 7* Han Solo were asked to stay out of top3. In practice that meant that there was a 2M damage limit for these members. So we made a separate mini competition of who can score as close to 2M as possible. This had no rewards, we just did it for fun.
If it's hard to control the big hitters, you may try to incentivize them with some 'forfeit' rewards. E.g. if they stay out of top3-5-10, they can ask anything in the guild exchange, and the members must fulfill it. 40+ members can donate even 5 carbantis or stun guns... If they don't get what they ask, they are free to hit next time.

(Now that most of our members can solo the whole HR, we have another rule: after the 12 hour 0 damage period don't post your damage for 20 minutes from the real start of the raid.)

That is something that I brought up. Thank you for your feedback! Do you have any feedback for the second part about certain members always getting 1st place?

So... Everyone contributes raid tickets to launch the raid, 24hr no damage rule, and you have the audacity to complain about the strongest members of your guild taking 1st and 2nd... If you limit their damage output, they will most likely bail. I would.

I guess I could have been a little more constructive in my comment... In my guild because the raid literally finishes in minutes, if you already have a 7* raid Han or are capable of a full solo, then you don't post damage until the raid is finished through normal means... Still only takes about ten minutes, but allows more lower level members to post damage.

  • Yeah the 24hour no damage rule works well, if you miss out its pretty much on you.
For the second part, its a bit tougher.
I wouldn't limit those players in your guild, they worked hard to get their roster so that they could do those kinds of numbers.
If it helps, I can solo the pit and once Ive 7* Solo, im gunna sit out on doing damage to the pit, I see it as only fair.
Maybe put that to them? Or get that sort of mentality going...

By the time people start getting 7 star Han solo people other people should have caught up with squads that can solo the pit raid.

It's less of an issue in heroic tank because the Kenobi shards are more even and it's just the gear and currency that's different
  • I moved this to the new player section as this is a good topic for discussion here.

That is really up to you and them.

My suggestion would be to see if they would rotate for first, letting one of them hit hard each raid for 1, then have the other try to place top 10 ish of they can, or even just place a 0.

But as you said they earned it and should be sharing that tactic with everyone and you should all even out soon enough.

Thank you for changing that haha I am not complaining by any means. I’m just trying to be constructive and figure the most fair and productive system. Like others have said, once they reach 7* han or ability to solo, they try to ask them to lay back to let others get to that point as well. At this point no on in our guild has raid han or GK so it will be a long time before we have to worry about anything like that.
