There is a Nihilus lead at 6th in my shard but he also has GK and Rex in his squad (plus EP and Dooku). Other than that there are two more DN (both fully Sith without Assassin) and two Maul lead teams in the top 50. That's in total 10% Sith of the top 50 but rather placed outside the top 30. So, yes, it can be competitive. Esp. if you are talking about breaking into the top 100.
However, I think putting the zetas on CLS probably benefits you in more areas of the game than with DN. CLS is great and useful all around. Plus people might pick you in arena simply because they are bored to be fighting the same squad over and over again. I guess to be successful in arena it depends more on how much you drop because on offense one can normally beat most teams of a similar level. Some people might see a Sith team as easy pickings.
