Don't waste time/resources on Storm Trooper Han. A lot of reviews recommend him because when he's leveled all the way up he is useful, but he is terrible while you're leveling him up. He's called a tank but he dies quicker than any other tank in the game, for me.
But you need him for CLS.
And everyone needs CLS.
Which goes with what I was saying. CLS is not available until you're very far along into the game. In addition to needing 7-star Old Ben, Leah, Farmboy and STHan, you need a 7-star R2-D2 which is only obtainable by special event, and you need a very high leveled empire team to get him. So you're probably 8-12 months into the game before you can compete for CLS.
IMO, prior to that, the only usefulness he has is a place filler as a scoundrel.
8-12?
I've been playing for 4 and I'm ready for CLS when he comes back. It's about focus. If that's what you're after, you can get there fairly quickly.
I assume you are pay 2 play? I am mostly f2p, I've been playing daily for 5 months and was only able to get a 5 star R2 on the last event. I wouldn't think most new players are going to be hyper focused, or knowledgeable enough, to be prepared for that event when it comes around. Timing also matters as you have to get 7-star R2 first, then wait fort the CLS event. "RebelLion;c-1550726" wrote:

I've spent some, but mainly for fleet in a failed bid to grab Chimera when it was here last.
Getting prepped for CLS isn't that hard....
R2 comes from Empire - Vader Tarkin Tie Pilot are fleet mainstays. Thrawn and EP can come from Phoenix, or you can at least get the Emperor with the very Rebels you need for CLS anyways.
Leia and Han are squad arena buys, old ben is a cantina farm, and farmboy they give you to begin with, and also come from a hard node and cantina. Old Ben and Farmboy also show up in stores occasionally.
I built up Han for credit heist a while back, and only really started in on Luke/Leia/Ben in the last few weeks. Ben is 7*, Leia is 6*, and Luke is 5*. Everyone is G8+ and abilities are getting there.
Again, it's not hard (not like JTR), but it does require focus and dedication."RebelLion;c-1550642" wrote:

I genuinely disagree with this.
I'm f2p, I wanted him. I put every resource I got into getting him. I'd say I was still early in the game when I got him. Got him and now I'm mid-game I'd say.
It can be definitely done it. If you want it."RebelLion;c-1550642" wrote:

I've spent $20 on this game because I believe in supporting the devs, so I'm 99% F2P. CLS came around 3 months after I started playing the game, and I barely missed him, but did get 7* R2. I was ready for him 3 1/2 months after playing, and now I'm chilling here, waiting...
Several of the year-or-more players in my guild didn't get him until this last time (3rd time around), but they were either not focused on getting him, spread themselves too thin chasing after every shiny object, or didn't play consistently. If you're a daily player and you stay focused, CLS within 4-6 months is a very reasonable time frame. I agree you have to make an effort to learn the requirements and go after them, but I assume that if you're on this forum, you're doing that.
STHan is not the world's best tank, but he's still quite useful. Plus Scoundrels are very necessary. Credit Heist is everything.- Modding can help a lot with SThan give him a punch of protection mods and he can tank quite well and when he soaks up the damage your team gains TM
- Whackingtrack29Seasoned NewcomerFair enough. I have put a couple bucks in, too. I really enjoy the game so they've earned a little $ from me. I probably spread myself to thin farming other characters (Mahl, Nighsisters). I have farmed Phoenix heavy from the beginning but didnt' quite have enough of them leveled up high enough for 7* R2. I've heard some say they had a 7* team after about a month, which means I was clearly not putting all my resources to it. I'm still not a STH fan, but that's just a personal opinion.

I was always disappointed at how squishy he was as a tank compared to pathfinder, but the tm manipulation is where his utility really is.
I agree that you can be ready for CLS in 4-5 months as f2p if you come to the forums and have help from your guild so you know what you're doing. CLS reqs are really easy farms from stores or early nodes. Empire toons are also pretty easy, especially if you already have Phoenix. "nobodyfromjakku;c-1550935" wrote:

What I was trying to say! Thank you.
Yes, I had him within 4/5 months I think so not the case at all that you only get access to CLS when "very far into the game".
