They could easily take it away and replace it with something else.
I'm guessing if it comes back they'll nerf palpatine pretty hard or change it up so you need to use something other than rebels to get him.
Maybe you'll need maxed out ships and the event will be back around christmas.
They will not take it away. They've said if it has an achievement it will return.
