First Order vs Nightsisters: whose Best and Easiest to farm for GA Defence

Division 10 here. Just farmed geonosians and geared them to use as a defensive GA team. I am also looking for another frontline defence team and I know that both first order and nightsisters do well on defence. However I can only farm one currently, so...

Which team is better on defence AND which one is easier to farm

I’d also appreciate any advice about who to use for each team. I currently plan to use

FO: kylo ren unmasked lead, FO officer, FO Stormtrooper, FO executioner and FO SF Tie pilot
Nightsisters: Mother Talzin lead, Old Daka, NS zombie, Ventress and Acolyte

Thanks

Also, My last post has been “checked” for an hour now so this is another post so please tell me if it reappears

  • Both are solid and you’ll want to gear both teams eventually, but there is one major thing to consider:

Episode IX is right around the corner, and there are likely to be additions to the FO that make them more “modern” than NS.

NS are a little stronger defensively, mostly because counters to KRU are well-known and rarely fail. If you DO decide to go NS, zAV is a lot stronger on defense than zMT at end-game, so specifically if using for defense you want to build around zAV. Spirit is better than Acolyte as she does WAY more damage at end-game, and gains TM on her basic... along with adding to the massive amount of stunlock that NS can bring. Under zAV, she will proc the 50% TM gain from leadership a lot more often than Acolyte, while frequently being healed back to full health... ultimately taking substantially more turns than acolyte.
  • In division 10 you will probably still encounter a lot of opponents, who don't have a proper NS counter team, yet. I would suggest NS first. They also have more uses outside of GA (though FO unlocks BB8, while NS don't unlock anything)
  • Both teams can also solo the Rancor raid, which is great. And do major damage in HAAT. NS are more viable for the Sith Raid, but FO can still be useful in Phase 4 once Nihilus is dead.
  • Ns are good at preventing wins worth more than 56 pts and generally cannot get wins on offense worth more than 55 pts. Use them on defense. Fo is good at getting 60pt wins. Use them on offense.

    FO for upcoming content

this would be the only reason to pick FO imo

  • Talking from my tier 3 GAC 3.6M account, I have never been in the necessity of gearing FO team after BB8 event.

I do not have a useful FO team, I do have a NS team and I have used it even in arena to beat zBastila teams in the past.

I do use NS to beat Geos or zBastila in TW and GA. And think they are more useful attackers than defenders.

I had extensively used zAsajj to beat the tank in the past

I use them in p4 HST

They have given me lots of zeta materials due to recurring event.

I do not miss having a useful FO team at all
  • Nightsisters are better and drastically easier to gear if I remember correctly. FO was brutal. I’d definitely rather gear NS for GAC.

However, FO and Resistance will probably get renewed life soon. So if you can wait you might know better in a month or two.
  • Atm NS > FO by far. Lots of people use padme to take out a good NS squad. And ewoks vs FO, if not modded correctly

I agree that regulator Kylo should be in place FOSFTP. For NS team, think about using Spirit instead of Acolyte. As for defense, zetas make a big difference. If you have the two Kylo's zetaed, they can be quite a pain to take down for who you would be facing in Div 10. If you have a fast NS team, especially a fast zombie, they can be quite a pain to face as well. Your best bet is try to get both teams up and running and put them in different zones. A lot of GA is about balance. You want good defense, but also need teams for offense. Learn all the counter teams. Putting Geos on defense is a good strategy, but also assume your opponent is going to do the same.

I'm in Div 1, so I have to field eight defensive teams. I generally pair a strong team with an average team in each zone. I stick Geos and JKR in the back, hoping opponents will blow their counter teams on my front four. It is a mixed bag in terms of results, there will always be someone out there with a better roster than yours.

Thanks for the great advice! However, I would like to know why you suggest Spirit instead of acolyte? Acolyte can deal very high damage, as I’ve found out unfortunately first handed and possibly lead to an endless scenario where she enters stealth and zombie constantly revives. Not to mention that I find foresight a lot less useful now with quite a few abilities being unable to be evaded. However, I guess her stunning a lot can be useful in defence which works well with ventress and old daka doing the same

Jarvind's post sums it up pretty well. Spirit just has a more useful kit and can hit pretty hard once geared up. I still run Acolyte myself just because I never got around to gearing up Spirit, but if all things were equal, I would be running Spirit instead. I tend to use NS's more on offense in GAC, just because I don't have a solid enough team for defense. High speed secondaries for mods are just too much of pain to obtain so I don't have enough to go around for everyone. I'm at 5 million GP, so most of opponents most likely have a good enough Imp Trooper team to stomp my NS's so I just use them on offense where I get more use out of them.
  • You know, we all keep saying FO or Resistance might get renewed life soon but we know certain GR things are coming. We are currently getting Clone Wars stuff during the interim of Star Wars endgame.

People/We are looking for rhyme or reason where there is no evidence of any.
