Nute Leadership Isn't Broken! Here is why
After the legendary video of Lando dominating with his AOE ability, many people have seem the power of a proper pairing, centered on synergy. Some players have been crying out at how Nute lead is broken and op, whole others have been defending the Nute Leadership. However, the correct answer is that Nute leader ability is not bugged or broken, just worded rather odd, and isn't necessarily OP.
Firstly, addressing Nute's leadership, it is not bugged between stealth and non stealth allies, it is worded technically correct, but lacks clarity. To first understand why this is so, it is time for a grammar lesson. A coordinating conjunction separated two independent clauses, which means the order between the two can be flipped around. Nute's description for his ability is composed of this, and says "Backroom Subterfuge - Stealthed allies gain 55% Critical Chance and gain 25% Turn Meter on a Critical hit." If you switch the clauses order around, you get "Backroom Subterfuge- Gain 25% turn meter on a critical hit, and stealthed allies gain 55% critical chance." This is what the current ability actually is, and it makes sense when worded this way, albeit still worded oddly. The main grammatical error is that the second clause is incomplete, and lacks a subject, specifically a pronoun, or a noun. To fix the wording of the ability, for its current state, it would read: "Backroom Subterfuge - Stealthed allies gain 55% Critical Chance, and all allies 25% Turn Meter on a Critical hit." If this is incorrect and both the description and the ability in action are both wrong, then the description should read "Backroom Subterfuge - Stealthed allies gain 55% Critical Chance, and they gain 25% Turn Meter on a Critical hit," or "Backroom Subterfuge - Stealthed allies gain both 55% Critical Chance, and 25% Turn Meter on a Critical hit." However, probability states that it is more likely only one person that made a mistake. As a result, it is likely the description is the broken factor, not the ability in action. If the ability is bugged, then both the description writer made an error, and the in game ability developer and coder had to have made an error.
Secondly, Nute lead is not OP. Lando himself is the OP character, and Nute is simply an enabler. The truth behind the video is that it is a rare occurrence for this to happen, as a string of lucky crits gave Lando full meter. The reality behind this is that Lando typically only gains some meter, as his crit chance isn't raised at all. Lando has to earn the crits on his own, and then gain meter from those crits. This is somewhat balanced, as Lando usually doesn't get endless turns, just more meter. (Evidence collected from player/forum member Nemo's usage of Lando and Nute.) Lando is also further balanced by being deathly slow, and fairly squishy, he can often be killed easily before he has a chance to go, along with Nute wasting his first turn using a thermal detonator. RG can remedy this issue, but RG himself has counters in QGJ, Teebo, and others being able to dispel, or buff immunity from JK Ani and NS initiate. Lando requires quite a lot of luck to go on a rampage as a result; however, Lando still has a much wider operating window than other characters, and soon, phasma will make Lando guaranteed to crit, and as a result, rampage freely if he isn't killed. To balance this, Lando should only be able to use his AOE every other turn, or only be able to reuse his ability if he crits on all 5 hits.
To conclude, Nute isn't broken, just misunderstood. Lando is a bit too easy to chain attacks with, and needs a nerf to make his operating window narrow. However, neither need much of a nerf, as there are very viable counters to this strategy, and the strategy needs the uncommon trait of synergy to work properly. Proper synergy enabling wins is rare in this game, and generally speaking, most squads are just five, minimal synergy characters, thrown into a team to produce large numbers on offense. This makes proper synergy teams look very powerful, yet Lando is the obvious key, and requires three characters built around him to enable him. If Lando dies, the team is easily shattered, as Nute wastes his first turn, and is squishy, RG only delays the inevitable, and Phasma deals little to no damage without advantage. The truth behind it all is that no one is overpowered, proper synergy is just actually that good.
