He's slow because he has the most powerful AoE in the game, plus with his basic he gets 100% turn meter on a kill.

I can't like this comment enough. If you're calling for maul to be buffed then you simply don't know how to use him right and that's your problem, not the developers. No character who can deal that kind of damage and get 100% turn meter on a finishing blow needs to get buffed..
So you use him or you've seen him in a top Arena team? I'd love to know what I'm missing here because I honestly don't see it.
All of his abilities take time to develop, yes if he survives to a second kill there is a good chance you'll wipe the board with him. I'm not denying that he could be a powerful character, what I'm saying is that he's dead before he has a chance to really start killing stuff.
You could surround him with assist characters hoping that he gets called on or you could pray that he gets ignored or hope that he keeps enough HP for RG to trigger his taunt. Those look like the only options available for him right now.
