Wedge Plea

Hey Dev Team,

I don't know if this is the right forum...General Discussion didn't really seem appropriate

Look...I haven't always been your biggest fan and advocate of the decisions ya'll have made. No secret there if anyone has bothered to read my posts...but then again, who hasn't complained lately.

I just want to say this. I saw you are reworking Wedge. I know he's gotten a bit of hate, more than have vocally loved on him (though I have -- often)...and I don't understand it. He was the missing part of my Rebel Team and I made certain to get him immediately and focused exclusively on gearing him, and I have had great success in gearing him and running him alongside Leia, Ackbar and STHan.

I don't have Biggs leveled or starred. I never intended to raise the mustached pilot. Lando is the only mustached Rebel that I want or have any use for.

We have so many options already, so many that are basically considered required for any real progress and so many I still need to raise up and gear and I'm already frustrated and tired of having to choose with resources so ridiculously scarce...so I beg you this.

Look, I get it. They're both pilots and they're both Rebels. Unless you are planning on redoing the entire Rebel synergy to be much more friendly with each other akin to Ewoks, Clones or Jawas...and actually, you really should revamp all the synergies to make more sense with using other like synergies...but please...don't ruin Wedge.

Don't make him and Biggs necessary to run together in order to be useful. Wedge is dang near perfect for me right now, and my Rebels squad has no room for Biggs. I don't need him. I'm certain I'm not alone...so please. Do not cripple Wedge for the sake of some new buddy buddy pilot synergy, unless that's actually becoming a thing.

Which would be kinda cool too.

But mostly, let him be just as effective now as a standalone Rebel who isn't required to lean on his fighter jockey friends for maximum efficiency.

Thank you in advance.
  • I agree...it's probably worth waiting for at this point; they said info would be coming with the update next week so I have to assume we'll know more in the next few days. Here's hoping he's still useful...and I suppose...becomes more useful.

I also wonder if that means he's about to get dumped into Chromium. They held back on Shaman until the rework (fix?) before throwing that one back out into the pool.
  • Shaman is in Chromium, but very awful drop rate. Almost wish I'd gone for him while he was in Aurodium, but seeing the amount of posts on him kind of made me glad I didn't. I got him during a few Chromium buys, but I won't be going ape_**** over trying to score him for anything other than in-game currency, I think.

That's a lot of text to say "don't change him unless it's gonna be good"

I find when trying to convince someone of something, it's better to make a reasoned, logical and impassioned plea than a boring one-note bland throwaway request...or statement.
  • I really hope they do a good job with Wedge and Biggs rework. They deserve it. Biggs is considered pretty bad, and Wedge is currently outclassed by the Anakin rework.

+30% damage for Rebels. Nice, except Anakin gives +30% damage and +20% crit damage to clones and Jedi and advantage on evade, half to the rest of the heroes. Basically, if a non clones or Jedi crits, they get +25% damage and a gaurunteed advantage if they miss. Why run Wedge?

They both have AOE attacks, but Anakin's hits incredibly hard, and grants offense up. Why run Wedge?

Anakin hits incredibly hard with his basic, without having to have defense up applied. And he applies healing/buff immunity debuffs, far better than defense down. Why run Wedge?

Anakin's has far more health and protection than Wedge, and is much faster. Why run Wedge?

Anakin is a f2p hero, while Wedge cost people money. Why run Wedge?

Wedge really needs to be reworked in order to justify using him and spending so much money to get him. Hopefully they do a good job.

This is the problem. People whined, Anakin got reworked, and now he is op and other tunes need to be just as op or ppl aren't "listening." What's fair? If wedge is the new Rey plus hella synergies? You all have lost it.

yeah ... i'm not so sure I would agree with this. I check the forums semi regularly and I cant say that I read a lot about wedge at all, all though you can fact check me if you really care to do search to prove a point. I hear a lot more complaining about a lot of other things that still have not been fixed. The OP was asking for no change, which is the definition of not complaining. I was asking for one of his 4 abilities to work as written. I would call that a reasonable expectation.

Beyond that, M9 makes a very good argument to not spend money on this character. That argument is probably more than anything why Wedge will end up with a re-work. the point of this game is to make money.

For instance, I was consider genosian spy, read about all the issues, decided not to spend money. I'm sure many other people did the same. I did read a lot of complaints about this. shortly thereafter, EA announces ig88 leader ability now works for Spy. Also, this seemed to be complaining about a toon not behaving as the description offers --> this also seems to be a reasonable reason to complain.

I am not aware of a large enough "wedge contingent" making enough noise to warrant the comment "you all have lost it". I think the discussion has been pretty civil so far. I'll admit, I'm just a little geeked up about using a character I really liked from the movies, have an interest in him, so joined the discussion.
  • Agreed with the poster above. I wouldn't say "no change" as mentioned so much as I would like to see him somewhere between the usefulness I find him to have now with the brokeness fixed that others have described, while making him attractive to the base at large...without breaking him and his usefulness to my team as it stands now, since he's a vital component of that.

I'm all onboard having a functional toon, and I appreciate a good rework as much as anyone. If he becomes even half as improved as RG became when they redid him, I'll be very, very happy...since I'm basically one gear away from having him maxxed.

By contrast, if he becomes broken to the point that even Luke is better, I'm not going to be pleased at all. Yes, they want folks to spend money on him. It only makes sense to make him more attractive as a spending option....so I remain optimistic. They've done good things with the reworks to date. I guess in this...I'm growing some faith in them to do right by the character and those who have already invested so strongly in him.
