Exactly. It seems like they can't read, don't understand what the disk says, or throw it on because it's purple, "so it has to be good!"

Thank goodness you made this thread. The 250 other threads that preceded it just weren’t enough. 

The data disk literally says that no enemy can be defeated if the leader is still alive. Unless used by an instant defeat ability (example: Darth Nihilus' "Annihilate" ability)

Just figured out its to make the "apply X defense down/potency down" feats faster, so you can just stay in one battle racking them up without just blasting them down.
