Game freezing while discord streaming

Bluetooth Streaming Crash

Noticed an issue that started roughly 2-3 months ago.  If I am streaming in discord with a Bluetooth headset enabled, it will crash or freeze up the game in certain game modes.  Noticed it in TB zones and GAC.  I am able to replicate this 100% of the time.  It seems to be very specific to Bluetooth enabled and specific game modes while streaming as it does not happen outside of screen sharing.

Happening on both iPhone 14 Pro and iPad, iOS18.0.1 and using discord to share the screen.  Attached a link to show what is happening.  Ally code is 867367149.

On a side note, some with Android are having problems streaming as it shuts off their mic, this started around the same time.  Not the same issue but possibly related.

  • It sounds like a Discord issue with Bluetooth headsets. Try updating your headset firmware and Discord app. If you need a better streaming setup, check out Magis TV for more solutions. Hope that helps!

  • Your issue with game freezing during Discord streaming with a Bluetooth headset seems to be a conflict between the app, Bluetooth protocols, and your devices' iOS version. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

    iOS-Specific Fixes:

    1. Update Your Apps: Ensure both Discord and the game are updated to their latest versions. Developers often release patches to address such compatibility issues.
    2. Check iOS Updates: iOS 18.0.1 might have introduced a bug. Check for newer updates that may resolve this.
    3. Reset Bluetooth Settings:
      • Go to Settings > Bluetooth.
      • Forget your Bluetooth device and reconnect it.
    4. Try Wired Headphones: If possible, switch to wired headphones to test if Bluetooth is the root cause.

    Discord-Specific Adjustments:

    1. Enable Hardware Acceleration:
      • Go to Discord settings (User Settings > Voice & Video).
      • Toggle hardware acceleration on or off to see if it helps.
    2. Lower Streaming Quality:
      • In Discord, reduce your stream quality to 720p or lower and limit the frame rate.

    Broader Fixes:

    1. Clear App Cache: Clearing Discord and the game's cache can help eliminate conflicts.
    2. Test Without Bluetooth: Stream the game without a Bluetooth device connected to confirm if the issue persists.

    Android Users' Mic Issues:

The Android mic issue might stem from the same core update or Discord's permissions. Encourage Android users to check microphone permissions in Settings > Apps > Discord > Permissions and toggle their input/output device settings within Discord.

    Additional Tools:

If the issue persists, you might consider alternate screen-sharing options or streaming tools until a fix is available. For example, apps like MagisTV can offer a seamless streaming experience for various media. You can explore the official website, to learn more about its capabilities, especially for entertainment-focused streaming. While it won't fix Discord issues directly, it could be a reliable alternative for sharing content.

Your issue with game freezing during Discord streaming while using a Bluetooth headset likely stems from a conflict between the app, Bluetooth protocols, and your iOS version. Here are some steps to help resolve it:

      iOS-Specific Fixes:

      1. Update Apps & iOS: Ensure both Discord and the game are updated. Check if there's an iOS update available that addresses potential bugs in version 18.0.1.
      2. Reset Bluetooth Settings:

        • Forget your Bluetooth device and reconnect.
      3. Test with Wired Headphones: Temporarily switch to wired headphones to check if Bluetooth is the issue.

      Discord-Specific Adjustments:

      1. Enable/Disable Hardware Acceleration:
        • Go to Discord Settings > Voice & Video and toggle Hardware Acceleration.
      2. Lower Streaming Quality: Reduce stream quality to 720p or lower and limit the frame rate.

      Broader Fixes:

      2. Test Without Bluetooth: Try streaming without connecting any Bluetooth devices to confirm the root cause.

For Android Users with Mic Issues:

The mic issue may relate to similar update conflicts. Android users should:

      • Check microphone permissions in Settings > Apps > Discord > Permissions.
      • Toggle input/output device settings within Discord.

      Alternative Streaming Tools:

If the issue persists, consider using alternative streaming apps like MagisTV for content sharing. While it won't resolve Discord-specific problems, it offers a reliable solution for media streaming.
