Did you craft him before you joined the recent GAC? Between rounds, your roster changes don't apply, for all three rounds you are using the roster you had at the time of the roster lock. Only when a new round of the Grand Arena becomes available to join, the roster gets locked again in it's current updated state. I hope this helps.
I got him and spent thousands of crystals to gear him before the player lock in counter had completed.
