Keep getting error code 9 when trying to log in

Haven't played in ages, reinstalled the app, press "have an account" link my google play just fine, but then the app restarts, I then get the into scene again so I press "have an account" again, enter my ea account email, enter the code, get error code 9 and told the app has to restart. Restart the app, it says "have an account" now my account appears on the list, I click it, it says error code 9 and the app has to restart. Restart the app again, it says "have an account" click it again and now I have to sign in with my ea account again and that part just repeats indefinitely. I've tried clearing all storage and caches, uninstall and reinstall of both the app and google play games etc nothing helps

  • The email you are trying to use may not be linked to the account you are trying to recover. Or there is a conflict between Google Play/Apple Center. Try to sign out of Google Play/Apple Center before you launch the game.

    Unfortunately that isn't the issue, I've already tried without linking my google play games account and also with the google play games completely uninstalled and I get the exact same issue.

    I tried contacting in app support, I didn't get a response within 48 hours, then the app actually logged me out and when I went back to the contact support page my chat was gone, so unfortunately that's not possible either
