The linking is technically overwriting the other account. So yea, you pretty much deleted your own account. You'll probably get more help by calling them up and preparing various information that can prove you are the owner, i.e. Player ID / Purchase History.
I did several times. Give them every information they need. Even my paymants to game. Still the are saying that cant restore it. I wander what will happen if a disaster delete allot of accounts. They must have back up.
