Strange behavior occassionally when auto-assigning mods

Product: Star Wars: Galaxy of Heroes

How often does the bug occur? Rarely (0% - 9%)
Summarize your bug Game is recommending worse mods than what's equipped. Bad recommendation goes away when oddly specific (third) mod is also considered. Bug occurs only under very specific circumstances, but every time under those circumstances.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Requires the right set of mods, but involves checking the mods assigned by the auto-assign button.

I'm seeing weird behavior with the Recommended mods function.

I have a Threepio & Chewie (Gear 13, Relic 5) with the following mods:

Square: Mk VI-15-E Crit Damage with Offense % Primary

Diamond: Mk VI-15-E Crit Chance with Defense % Primary

Circle: Mk VI-15-D Crit Chance with Protection % Primary

Arrow: Mk VI-15-E Crit Damage with Speed Primary

Triangle: Mk VI-15-E Crit Damage with Crit Damage Primary

Plus: Mk VI-15-D Crit Damage with Offense % Primary

These sets and primaries match the recommended mod sets and best primary stats. However, the game is trying to recommend the following:

Triangle: Mk VI-15-E Crit Chance with Offense % Primary

Circle: Mk V-9-A Crit Damage with Protection % Primary

I have no idea why this is being suggested, given that Offense % on Triangle is considered "2nd Best" after the Crit Damage that's already equipped. So it seems backwards to follow the recommendation. What's even more curious is if I remove the following mod from Chief Chirpa, the above recommendation goes away completely:

Triangle: Mk V-15-C Crit Chance with Crit Damage Primary

Here are the secondaries for the three Triangle Mods in question:

Mk VI-15-E Crit Damage

Primary: 42% Crit Damage

( 2) 4.06 Potency

( 3) 998 Health

( 2) 2.26% Health

( 1) 2.33% Crit Chance

Mk VI-15-E Crit Chance

Primary: 8.5% Offense

( 2) 83 Offense

( 1) 3.65% Defense

( 4) 46 Defense

( 1) 2.6% Protection

Mk V-15-C Crit Chance

Primary: 36% Crit Damage

( 1) 562 Protection

( 2) 2.09% Health

( 2) 673 Health

( 1) 5 Speed

I've seen this happen on some other characters with different mods (such as trying to trade an arrow with speed primary for one with protection primary), but I don't have solid examples of those.

    The auto assign/basic mode is junk. I don't know if I would call it a bug vs. just bad design. Kind of like how the default sort for mods is by "rarity." Doesn't mean those are good mods. The game simply doesn't know what actually makes a mod useful. Don't use basic view ever,  just use advanced. Seems like you've been reading up on mod guides anyway.

    I think it's a bug. The game has its preferred mod sets and primary stat rankings for each mod position and each character. I don't care if people disagree with what those sets are or which primary is best. There's no right answer, and that's what advanced is for.

    Instead, I consider what I'm describing as similar to the game saying a character needs speed mods, but then puts defense mods on instead. Everyone should agree that if the game says it wants speed mods, then it should put speed mods on, not defense mods or anything else.

    Similarly, if the game likes a speed primary better than a health primary, then it should keep the speed primary on rather than try to replace it with a health primary. Which, it does do this for the most part, except for what I am describing. Hence, the bug report.
