Military Career won't progress

Question

Recently streamed the game and recorded it (will eventually be on Youtube). One of my Sims has the Military career choice. Currently has enough points in his skillset to progress, and a couple friends, but he's still stuck in recruit mode despite going to work generally happy. Other characters have been able to move forward in their careers (sports, entertainment and criminal, respectively); can't seem to find anything specific about it but, yeah.

This is for the PC edition of the Sims 1 Legacy collection on Steam.

Does your sim have good relationships with the neighbors or other residents in their house? Having friends is a requirement for career progression.

They're friends with at least 4They're friends with at least 2 people currently in the game, and generally go to work in great condition, but he's not progressing past recruit.&nbsp;
