Still crashing after patch 2/12

I am just at a loss here, and I'm very pissed off that I'm out $40 because steam won't refund it since the game was fine the first 10 hours of it going live. But despite TWO PATCHES NOW, my game is still crashing within 30 seconds of the game being launched. I've done different careers, different neighborhoods, I've tried narrowing it down so what clothes I'm wearing at this point. And it's all still the same. I have written a previous post, and did all of the suggestions that were given there, and STILL nothing has changed.

Seriously EA.... offer refunds on steam. This is unfair not just to me, but many many others who are having the same problem. I paid $40 to essentially never get to play the game ever. I shouldn't have to "speed run" my sim game. This is not fair. This is not fun. I'm attaching my dxdiag file again with these new crashes.

I'm just tired... I want my money back.

  • Hiya zettaira PurpleSweetTart ,

I saw this fix over on the Steam community forums and it seems to work for most people whose game is crashing:

    Hope it works for you!

  • I am with you, I don't use Steam that much, but unfortunately, the refund period for the EA app was 1 failed run and/or two weeks for EA App users. My computer came down with unrelated malware and had to go back out for removal, so I am now outside of the return window. You won't find EA ever being kind to its player base and they literally took advantage of nostalgia to sell us what we wanted without any kind of quality control, which is a well-documented issue in the gaming industry. Trust me, if I did not love this Franchise, I would have nothing to do with EA. Somewhere, I like to imagine that Will Wright (Sims original creator) is watching this from afar, bawling his eyes out over the fact that something that once brought so many people joy, is now bringing us so much sorrow. He was right to leave but I don't think he ever expected what they have done with his most glorious creation. Here is a great big <hug> because you are so not alone in your frustration.

  • sambonz Hi, sorry for the confusion, I use the EA app and I was replying to a Steam user but thank you for that information and I hope it helps other Steam users.

This so far seems to be working. Played for several hours for 2 days and hasn't crashed yet. Hoping this lasts. Marking as solution, will update it anything changes.

  • This issue should be resolved now.  For anyone still who is missing any neighborhood data (sims, lots, whatever), or whose game is crashing after the initial video but before loading into a household, you can try reseting your user data.  If you're not attached to your save, please go here:

    C:\Users\your username\Saved Games\Electronic Arts

and remove or rename the "The Sims 25" folder.  This will reset all your in-game progress, and the files and subfolders should populate as normal now.

If you still see missing neighborhood data after a reset of the Sims 25 folder, please post in the thread linked below stating what is missing and what platform (EA App, Steam, Epic) you're using.
