I have exactly the same problem, even if I change the scaling, as soon as sims are in the picture, the FPS collapses. Also AMD graphics card.

Same for me. Started the tutorial family. When a third sim appears on the screen or animals, then the games fps will drop to a very low rate. AMD Adrenalin Software shows me an average fps of 7.
AMD Radeon RX7600
Update: Seems to work fine, after updating Adrenalin and drivers to latest version
Update 2: Nevermind... when ever a random sim walks around the property or particularly when moving to the citiy the fps will still drop horribly - FFluffyNoodles1 year agoRising Scout
Yup, I'd issue a refund if you can since this has been an issue since launch and has yet to be addressed by EA in any of their patch notes

Having the same problem, performance on my 9800 XT tanks when lots of sims are on the screen. Playing the game on my other PC Intel integrated doesn't have this issue.

I'm running it on my Acer Laptop with an AMD Ryzen 7 Mobile Processor and it works fine there.
Update: GPU is AMD Radeon Vega Gfx.
I'm able to stream it from the laptop to the Dekstop PC via Steam. So this is my workaround. Played for around 2 hours now. - fdd4f1a1856281541 year agoSeasoned Newcomer
Radeon RX 7600 with same problem. No sim on screen => full maxed out FPS no lag at all. 1 Sim on screen => lower FPS but still playable. Multiple Sims on screen => drops to 2fps which is basically frozen and unplayable.
