Can't launch the Sims 2 since the 2/6 patch

I was actually doing fine with the Sims 2, the first patch actually fixed most of my crash bugs so I was happy to see some of my bigger issues like the tinny audio was supposed to be fixed in 2/6.

Except now my game won't even start. At all. And I can't even figure out why because all I'm getting is a useless blank error window every time I click the program to start.

I've attached it below, along with my DxDiag which has not changed. I've gone ahead and added the generated exception report and dump because I'm stumped and this is really frustrating to have largely had a working game for a week and now its busted.
