Game stops Responding at Loading Menu?

Hi there!

I have never had an issue with this game on my PC until now. I accepted a notification from Steam the other day to allow it to adjust the game or something of that nature. And now when I boot up the game, the loading menu will just stop responding every time. How do I correct this? Or have there been issues going on for a couple of months? I ask because I've taken a break to play Paralives recently.
