Game won’t open, gets stuck on black screen

Ever since I bought on launch day and installed, I’ve not been able to open sims 2 how it installs. When I click play, the game “launches” but gets stuck on a black screen. I’m on Windows 11. The only work around I’ve been successful with using is putting -w in the game properties before launching the game. While it’s a useable work around to play the game, I would like to play the game full screen as the windowed version does not fit my computer screen and I can’t seem to make it any smaller than how it launches. I can move it the window, but I can’t change the size of it from any corner or edge.
