Is "clean UI" mod a solution??

They ruined the game a few weeks ago with that big "patch" that made UI small and despite two new "patches" the issue still exists. The "cheat code" (it shouldn't be resolved with a cheat code anyway) does not work and why would we have to mess with the game's files to be able to play the game WE PAID FOR? I haven't played The Sims 2 ever since that patch and honestly I am not even excited about playing it anymore. I regret wasting money on a game that became unplayable for me after few weeks.

They should add the option to change the size of the UI the way the player wants it like it is in the Sims 4...

However, trying to find a solution for my game, I found out there's a mod that replaces game's UI completely with a new "clean" and more modern version. I am wondering though if all the struggle with installing the mod is worth it... Is UI bigger than it is now in it? Does it work smoothly? Can someone let me know? :)

Exactly. Sims 4 UI for Sims 2? Thanks, but no, thanks. Why would anyone even want that? Sims 2 UI is already pretty well done and don't need to be reworked, just enlarged. I wish there was a mod that simply makes the UI bigger, without changing it unnecessarily.

sims 2 ui look so bad and dated, it's ugly as hell. Clean UI however makes the ui look so much nicer and .... clean

I agree, I find it ugly too... But at this point it might be the only chance of getting bigger UI... But is it really much bigger? lol

  • For me the UI became bigger after that patch, and it makes me really happy! The cheat code works for me, and you can change the scaling in Graphics Rules file. You need to change "uintProp uiScaleFactor" to 2 or 3 to make it bigger, 1 is the smallest and probably what you have right now.

Problem is I don't even have that string in my Graphics Rules file.

Plus, it was clearly said this only works for resolutions higher than 1080. And that is still the most common resolution. And EA doesn't seem very keen to change this limitation any time soon. So, majority of people are out of luck. And downgrading resolution to make the UI more readable also no longer works, since EA decided to change the game to borderless window. Therefore, mod seems like the only option here for the majority, sadly.

Yes, my bad, I didn't think of a smaller resolutions. My resolution is 1920x1200, so this new UI scaling works for me. I've never tried Clean UI, so can't tell if it's really bigger or not. I know that there's also a Starship UI which is a dark recolour of Clean UI. So it may be more suitable for those who don't like white UI.

  • I use the mod. I doubt it will make the UI "bigger." I did not previously have UI scaling issues and the mod hasn't affected the scaling of the UI.

  • It is not a solution, at least for me, it didn’t do anything to change the sizing of UI, just the look. Hope this helps, hopefully things get better and everyone can actually enjoy this amazing game.

  • SuzanaRose Regardless of vanilla vs Clean UI preferences, I don't believe the Clean UI mod affects the UI size aside from possibly expanding the catalogs in CAS.

For now, if you'd like to make the UI larger, you can switch to Windowed mode and lower the resolution, or change resolution in system settings (Settings > System > Display) to keep playing in Borderless. Hopefully this gets sorted out in a future patch.
