Problem with needs

Okay, so I was playing Sims 2 University. I recreated myself and four of my real life friends, and I put us all in that 14 room dorm at Sim State University. Everything was going good, until I realized that all their needs went down so fast! Does anyone else feel like they go down fast as well?

  • That's not mean. They clean it up when it's about to spoil. You don't want your sim eating spoiled food. The NPC will usually make something else, unless their shift is over. If their shift is over for the day, most of the dorms should have a mini fridge, and you can have your sim get some cereal to tide them over until the cafeteria worker returns.

They will also throw everything away when they go to leave for the night which is around 11 pm.

By any chance, did you start playing with Sims3?
When Sims3 was being launched, one of the features introduced by Rod Humble was to slow down needs so players were not having to tend to Sims ablutions so frequently or their hunger.
Like @Seera1024, The Sims needs was even more challenging! :)

Their needs do decrease a lot more quickly on TS2 than TS3 or 4. It makes the game more challenging, especially in the beginning when they can't cook properly so they make low quality food

If you want to see needs dramatically decreasing, play Sims 1. That game is all about keeping needs high. Luckily, Sims don't die of old age so it doesn't matter that they take a billion years to get promoted...

Oh man I don't think I've played Sims 1 since I was in year 1 lol. I remember trying to create houses and making them preposterously large so it would take hours for them to cross one room. I had a thing where they had to own everything that they possibly could. As a child, my parents adopted a genuinely huge amount of cats and at one point we had at least 11, but we were never allowed that many in my sims house so I had to pick my favourites :P
  • Sometimes I use the cheat to keep their needs up because then I'm focusing on their needs the whole time instead of playing (although it is a part of the game, but still haha)
  • @LadysimPlayer8 actually Sims 3 needs start out draining kinda fast, it's after cashing in the happiness rewards points for 'steel bladder' etc that they slow down.

I am going to disagree with you as this last week I have been playing Sims3 and finding looking after the Sim's needs a dawdle compared with Sims2 - no rushing off for ablutions and my Sim is practically surviving on one meal a day! :)
I have never purchased the steel bladder reward for my Sim and tend to prefer other rewards such as trait observant so I can't comment but for me it is kind of unnatural. ;)
  • The needs do drop quickly but I think it makes more challenging. One of the things I dislike about 3 and 4 is the game feels super easy at times. And has already been said the sims 1 was harder.
