Sim being replaced by NPC

Question

I created a household with 1 sim and let her move into an empty house.

Later on I created another household. When I then wanted to go back to my other sim, I discovered she was gone. She was still on the household loading screen but in the game play she has been replaced by some random NPC. There is no trace of her. She has completely been replaced, even in the relationship menu with other sims. Also, I am unable to play live mode on her lot now. Only buy and build mode are available.

Please help? I really want to get her back...

sheeriethefay Did this happen with the latest patch installed? Which neighborhood was she in before she disappeared; did this happen in the same gameplay session or after closing the game and launching it again?
At the moment, the game may have some issues with correctly saving progress, including what you mentioned; unfortunately that Sim is probably gone for good.
Are you able to reproduce this in another neighborhood?
