Sims 2 Legacy Crashing - No warning/explanation

I bought the Sims 2 Legacy as soon as it dropped and have been playing it since then with very, very few issues. I mean, the Sims 2 and crashing go hand in hand, but it was never a problem that made it unplayable. You play for hours, you make sure you save, and then once in a while the program must terminate ya know? What can ya do! 

However, about a month ago, my game started randomly crashing by literally just disappearing as I was playing. The screen would just go away to show my desktop as if I minimized it and that's that, no warning or explanation. This had happened a few times since I started playing in February of 2025, but it would be after hours of gameplay and then I'd just restart it and it would play fine again for a long time until it decided it had had enough and closed again and I took that as a sign that I needed to walk away anyway.

Unfortunately, it has now started doing it within 20 minutes, then when I restart the game, it crashes again after 2-5 minutes. I just tried to play today after giving it a break for a week and it crashed within thirty seconds of me loading into a lot. Obviously this makes it unplayable which is genuinely devastating. I know that I'm not the only person who has brought this up or is having this type of issue, but I have tried some of the suggestions to no avail. Do you think uninstalling and reinstalling would help? I do have mods but I've never had issues with them before and I've had them installed since I started playing back in Feb of last year. Someone mentioned that CC furniture specifically could cause this issue? Idk but I'm at my wit's end and any help or advice or suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks!
