Sims 2 Legacy crashing when loading a household

I first had the issue of the game not launching when I first purchased it. I was able to fix that issue with the solution of typing “-w” in the properties. While the 2/6 update fixed that issue and I can now launch the game without the “-w” in the properties I now have another issue that has made the game completely unplayable. Every time I try to load into a household after a few seconds of the loading screen I get a pop up that says: “The application has crashed. The application will now terminate.” I have tried repairing the game, I have tested multiple households in different neighborhoods, I’ve even tried running the game as administrator. The only other thing I can think to try is uninstalling then reinstalling, but I would like to avoid that.

  • I had the The Sims 2 Legacy Direct3D Error, but now I am having this problem. It crashes just like the Legacy Direct3D Error.  I am having “The application has crashed. The application will now terminate” when I click any family. I tried all the new Neighborhoods and every household has the same problem. As soon as I click on the family, it ends up closing the entire game with this crash.

I am going to check the post CatbugSugarPeas1. I'll let you know if this works for me as well. Thank you.

I just want to let you know that the game is working fine for me now. It is related to the shadows option. Maybe our graphic cards are not compatible with the specification of the game and Windows 10 and 11. I hope EA can find a way to fix this soon for future players.

At least we can play the game without shadows.
