Sims 2 Legacy Collection - Crashing on Launch

Question

Hey everyone,I think other people are having the same issue but I haven't even been able to make it past the initial loading screen before the game crashes.I have tried '-w' in the startup, and even after today's update I'm still not able to get past the loading screen.I think it's really unfair I'm not eligible for a refund when I can't play the game at all, and I would really like to know a work around, if possible.&nbsp;I play on Steam. If anyone has answers pleeeeease let me know. I've been waiting to play the Sims 2 again for so long. :(

To add more information: Every time I verify the integrity of the game files after I launch the game, it tells me that there are 5 files missing and that they will be reacquired. This has been happening since yesterday.&nbsp;
