Sims 2 legacy keeps crashing

Since the latest patch the game has become unplayable for me :(. Whenever I go to CAS I get a “The game has crashed, application will now terminate” message. I also get the message whenever I load in...

    ok try this because it worked for me and I was having the same issues. Go to any unoccupied house/build mode, go to your graphic setting and turn off the shadow setting. It was the first one on my page. once I did that it finally let me play. for how long one will never know but so far so good.

I'm getting the same message any time I try to load a household in any world, whether I've played them or not.  I repaired the game, and it's the exact same.  I even tried a suggestion someone said in a different forum about moving the folder out to desktop so it has to create a new one.  Nothing.  

Genuinely created an EA forums account to report it, because like you said, completely unplayable. 😒
